Thank You!

Hi everyone...

Thank you so much for all your comments. Seriously. We all don't know each other in the "real" world, but it means so much to me that you would take the time to connect with someone in blogging-land who's having a hard time.

So, you'd all be proud of me. Today I wandered in to a little bookshop near my house and asked about their book club, which meets monthly. Think I'm going to try and attend next week if I can. I also have plans to go to a Baby Boot Camp session (although I have to admit that I'm scared of discovering how un-fit I am!) tomorrow. Someone I met at the park last week invited me, and said it would be a good way to meet other stay-at-home moms.

I don't want to make it sound like all my problems are solved, but I know I need to "get out there" to feel connected. So off I go.

And just because I simply can't put up a post without a photo, here's one taken of our little family before we left Colorado. It's a good reminder for me to count my blessings. Thank God we have each other! And I thank God for all of you, too.

Moving is hard. Especially when your kids get older but getting involved in book clubs and MOPS groups and Church will help. I will be praying that you find some really great friends!

Yes! Use the fact that you're a mother to get out and meet others, join a MOPS group, join a play group...it's quite the advantage being a mom. I used to think when we were in CO so far away from everyone that it would've been so much easier had we had children. There weren't many clubs for just plain ol' wives. ;0) Kids make meeting others seem so much easier! Good for you that the social wheels are in motion.

My hubs is in the military and we just moved to Fla last year. I was surprised at how hard the move was for me. I miss my old friends, miss NC, miss everything! On top of that, my 4 year old is right there with me - asking for the "red house," his old friends, school, the park, etc. It sounds like you are on the right start - joining up with the book club, boot camp. Just know I am right there with ya!

Change is never easy.....it forces us to face our fears. This change for your family will bring you to your 'new normal'. I have had several of these in my life and wow did I grow with each and every one of them. Enjoy the process of discovering this new normal for yourself.

I know exactly how you feel. We moved to Southern California from Oregon about a year ago. We had lived in Oregon our whole lives before that. We still haven't really gotten plugged in yet, because we also lived in a rental for a year while our house in Oregon was sold. We finally purchased a new house and moved in. We have a beautiful home with a pool, but I still miss home.

It sounds like you are making some great steps to meet friends. When I moved to Baltimore 15 years ago I did all kinds of stuff to meet people: took classes, joined my sorority alumnae group, junior league, church, bible study, dinner club, tried out for theater, joined adult sports teams. You name it - I tried it! And it worked. I met wonderful friends and count my decision to move to Baltimore among my very best.

Can't wait to hear about your new adventures.

Try the local library they usually have story time and also check out the local MOMS club, a club for stay at home moms and their kids! www.momsclub.org for a chapter near you :)
