Our New Master Bedroom

I didn't set out to get the master bedroom done first. Usually that's the last room to get attention, because everything else seems more important! But somehow, things just came together this time, and the master bedroom is done.

Here is the "before," a photo on my husband's cell phone from when we were first touring the house:

Here it is now!
I love the paint color, and it was so nice just to unpack my boxes and start hanging things on the walls. Hooray for not painting! We already had the curtains and rug and everything else, so I just needed some time to arrange and place things how I wanted them.

My husband hung the curtains, which pleased him to no end. (OK, not really. He says the two things he hates most are hanging curtains and painting walls. Not so lucky for him, given who he is married to.)

But given the emotional state I've been in lately, it's nice to have the master bedroom done. It's a respite at the end of the day, and very cozy with the curtains drawn at night.

Next week I'll show you the kitchen, where I've been working my little hiney off!

I think having your own space defined will help re-charge you as you go forward with the rest of the house.

That's a really great idea. And yea! for rooms we don't have to paint!

It's gorgeous! I really need to redo my bedroom. First we need to take out a sliding glass door so that's holding me up!

Beautiful! I love everything about it! I think of you often as I am in a similar position: moving due to my hubbies job, away from the life we know and our dream home. I am so scared that we're making the wrong choice, and I can feel the ulcers churning in my stomach lol. Nice to know that there are others out there feeling the same uncertainties, but taking the plunge and making the move with their families. I wish you and your family a wonderful new adventure!

It looks wonderful! I'm jealous that you have such a big master bedroom. Mine is so small!

Thanks everyone! The toile I used for my curtains was from Calico Corners, and it was called "Michilene." I hope I have the spelling right. I bought it two years ago and it was on clearance then, so don't know if it's still available. Let me know if you find it!

I LOVE your new room. The windows are fabulous, and it looks so homey. Your stuff looks like it's just meant to be there! I love the shelves around the windows, too. My husband hates hanging curtains and installing blinds, too.

Answering another question about the bedroom:
The bed came from my favorite furniture store in Cincinnati, Verbargs. The dresser is a family heirloom from my husband's grandparents...so I have no idea where it came from! The bench at the end of the bed is from Pottery Barn, about 10 years ago! Hope this helps! :)

Oh wow, you are in my home town area. I live in MS now, so I can appreciate your homesickness. You really have a beautiful view!
There is a favorite place of mine, where I would take our children to. It is the children's discovery museum. Just over the bridge, heading north on 101. Don't forget you need toll coming back into the city though. :o) Here is the link. It really is an awesome place!!! They will love it for sure.

Love the built-ins and the wall color (do you know what it is?)
It looks very relaxing! I've always neglected the master too but this time I/m planning to fix it up first.

Carrie, I just feel like I'm at home when I'm looking through your pictures! I'm starting to think that every single thing you touch turns into something fabulous. I don't know why I ever doubted that before though!

I would also love to know what color your bedroom is painted if you know what it is. I am loving the comfort gray in your kitchen. I have been going back and forth with the comfort gray and a couple of tan tones for our new house. I love it and it actually looks a lot lighter than I thought it might!

Beautiful room! Do you know the paint color in that room?
