Tour My House Tuesday: Master Bedroom

**Updated to add: Yep, that is my dog's bed under the window there (got it at Costco!).  I thought about removing it for the photo, but let's keep it real here!  (I didn't dust or vacuum either.)  Also, the paint color is by Valspar and is called "London Smoke."  However, I got it home and it seemed too dark for me, so I added probably about a gallon of white to it.  So now it is my own custom color!

We are almost done with our tour of my house!  (Hmmm...do you think that is enough reason to convince my husband to start our basement refinishing project?  I need more rooms to show on my blog, honey!  This is important!)  Today we are visiting the master bedroom.

The first thing you will notice is that it is actually a different color then the rest of the rooms in my house!  I am very surprised at how much I love this room, because I usually gravitate towards the "warm" colors on the color palette.  But I think of this color as a pale robin's egg blue, and I adore it!

Above is a lovely shot of the many cords I have hanging off my bedside table.  So pretty, don't you think?  I also wanted to show you this table because it came to us as a castaway that was in my husband's parents' house when they moved in.  Crazy, right?  I sanded it and stained it a darker color, and I love it!

I also thought you might want to see a close up of our bedding, because I agonized over these paisley pillows for months!  But the colors in the fabric really work to pull the whole room together.  The Euro pillows behind them are actually covered with an old tablecloth of my grandmother's.  She always had the most wonderful, warm and inviting family meals around the table, so by the time she passed away, her tablecloths were pretty beat up.  I was able to salvage enough to cover my pillows so that I have something of her near me still.  I hope she would like that idea.

Above is the opposite corner of the bedroom that you couldn't see in the first photo.  Sometimes I come up here and read, or just curl up after I take a shower to get a break!  The chair sits next to a window with a great view of the mountains, so it's very relaxing.

You know, I had the hardest time pulling this room together, because I was so afraid of the color, but now that it's done I think I am most proud of how it turned out.  Isn't it funny how that works?  Maybe that's a lesson to me to step out of my box a little more often...what do you think?

My house is all warm except my master too. My master is much more serene. I have had trouble pulling it together as well. I will post pics sometime. Looks like a very relaxing room for you and hubby to get away.

A very pretty and restful looking room!

I especially like your furniture (the dresser, and the table) as well as the photos above your bed from your wedding.

I would be curling up in that chair too:)

It looks great! I love the fact that you used your grandma's table cloth for your euro pillows, to keep her close to you. : )

I love your room. My house is all brown, reds, greens(warm colors) and I'm redoing my master now in the same Robin's Egg blue. What color is the blue you used? I love the tint of it! Love reading your blog!

So awesome that you could incorporate your Grandma's tablecloths in such a creative way! I love that so much! I miss my Grandmas so much! I have some of their old wall hangings in my house.

I really love that color also! I am trying so hard to pick a bedroom color out right now! Sometimes I think Tiffany Blue would look nice with our black and white stuff but then other times I think it would be WAY too loud. You did great! Very pretty. Our bed is just like your bed.

WOW -- it is gorgeous!! You are so talented. Love that you were able to use your grandmother's tablecloths!

Have a project/question for you -- what can I do with an long-sleeved t-shirt of my girl's that she made in preschool with a reindeer face on it?? Stick a pillow in it and cut the arms off? What would you do? Wish I would have been able to knit my darling's poncho, but no, I bought it.

Have a fun day!

Beautiful relaxing room. It's very spa like but warm with your personal touches.Any grandmother would be proud you cared enough to repurpose the table cloth. It all looks great!

I love your dresser, and I think it was an awesome idea to cover the euro pillows with your g-ma's table cloths!

If you are afraid of color, you'd be scared out of your mind at my house. LOL My entire house is earth tones, but not just browns...we have several shades of green, a gold/mustard yellow, a rich red, and pumpkin!

I think it's beautiful, and what a great color. I love that you gave something from your grandmother a special place in your room. Okay, but if you post a perfect blue like this, you've got to share the name of the paint you used! :)

You did great. And it is very calming even from here. :)

My favorite is your idea to keep chap stick and things in a bowl on my bedside table! :) It's the little things.

Now every night my chapstick won' roll off the table. :)

Your house is GREAT hun! Hugs, Les
p.s. Your Grandmother's table cloths turned into bedding? That is such a creative idea to keep her memory close. I do like that!

I love it! I think using unexpected elements, like the tray table as a bedside table, just adds so much character to a room. I also love the fact that you were able to use your grandmother's tablecloths and incorporate them into the room; that is so special and one of a kind. I think it looks great!

We have the exact same colors in our bedroom! We also have light blue walls with dark espresso furniture & accents. I love it to! It feels so cozy to me, but it also a deviation from the rest of our home.

I love your paisley pillows! That is SO special that you used your grandmother's tablecloth to cover pillows for your bedding. Such a sweet idea.

And, that chair looks so cozy! I really like how it only has an arm on one side.
