**Updated to add: The font that I used in the binder is called "Curly Cue" and I downloaded it for free on urbanfonts.com. I love that site! Also, someone asked me what my categories are: living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, adult bathrooms, kid bathrooms, adult bedrooms, kid bedrooms, hallways & entryways, dens/offices, porches & patios, exteriors, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, miscellaneous holidays, winter, spring, summer, fall, birthday decorations and crafts. Phew! I bet you can think of lots of others!
A few weeks ago, I showed you how I organized the recipes that I had torn out of magazines. As I was putting that post together, it occurred to me that I could use the same type of binder for my decorating ideas. So here is what I started with: a huge pile of file folders that I have been lugging around with me since before my husband and I were married, adding to them along the way:
And now all my ideas are organized into plastic sleeves by rooms of the house, with a special section for each major holiday and season:

Will you come and do my closet???
Very cute...love the paper on the cover!!! It must feel good to have that all in it's special spot!

My husband has been on me to do this. I really need to so we don't have a 1000 magazines everywhere.
Great idea! I've been wanting to do this. Love that font! What is it called and where did you find it?!
That's great! Isn't it nice to feel that sense of accomplishment so quickly, rather than dragging on and on with a big project? I like how the projects you share are usually not too-consuming...but have huge value. :)
It looks great! I've wanted to do this for a while, but I never get around to it...
Be sure to check out my site for a custom photo jewelry giveaway!
Wow -- very cool! You ARE so organized!!
Have a great day!
Janet
You are so organized!!! Where do you find the time??
Have a great day!

I do this too!
In my craft room on one of the bookshelves are about 8 binders (you probably can't see it on my video for all of the junk sitting on the floor in front of it).
I have a binder for scrapping, stamping, altered arts, craft rooms, holiday crafts/decorating and more.
Aren't we clever?! LOL
This is such a good idea. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who keeps magazine clippings.
I've been wanting to do this for so long...now I'm going to! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Officially my scraps will be organized! I have an extra binder just like that I love how you did it!
I just posted about organizing recipes last night! I'm glad I'm not the only one that values binders and tabs. :)
I love your blog!
Hi Carrie :)
I don't think I could fit everything into one folder. I'm a magazine whore. That's right, I admit it. It's a very scary thing too, because they are all over the house... yikes!
Beautiful idea though, so I think I'll try it, but you may not hear from me for a while if I do LOL

great idea! i have started to do this several times...but need to finish it. :) do you mind sharing what sections you have your book divided into?
Such a great idea! I have things torn out or lying around in drawers. Thanks for the idea!
Btw...My daughter (she is 9) has been doing this same thing for the longest time with all her design ideas. Just never thought it would be much use to me. *smiles* Now I know otherwise.
You know I love any organizing posts!
Oh fun! My mom did that and she has a whole bookshelf dedicated to four binders of pull-outs. Yours looks great!
I've really been wanting to do this.
Great idea! I am all about the cute fonts. I love to browse through dafont.com for new ones! They really do make everything seem a lot cuter!
I've been trying to muster up the motivation to make one of these for WEEKS.
I need to just bit the bullet and make it happen!
LOVE that! I'm an organizing junkie too...I love labels...and lists...and binders...and folders. LOL! Office Depot or Staples are two of my fav stores. That notebook is a fantastic idea!
What a great idea! And, as far as I'm concerned, the cute fonts are a must!
I love any organizing post!
My friend and I just did this while we were on vacation - except she added something else - a checklist for each room that she wants to accomplish. Such a great idea!:)
I made one of these binders years ago and still use it! I update it every season (because my tastes have changed) and love it as much now as I did then. BTW, yours is WAAAAAAAY cuter than mine!
What a great idea, lifting that from you also.
Ally
I love to organize things-complusively. Great idea!
Great idea! I should do this with all of the things that I have torn out into folders. Easy project to work on during a movie!
I just found your blog and love it!! I'm going to do your idea for decorating clippings and my recipes. What font did you use for your tabs in your decorating binder? I love how it looks. Thanks for all the great ideas!
Stacie H.
I actually made up a binder like this once, but then everything in it started to look dated and old because I never actually DID any of the ideas I loved. You are much more on top of things...you're making cute little projects all the time!

You really are amazing! I have a binder full of magazine pages, but now I feel the need to divide them into rooms and seasons/holidays too. Thanks for being hyper-organized and sharing it...seriously! ;-)
I love this! I have been collecting ideas since I was a teenager! :)
I love to be organized! What a great idea to get rid of all those extra magazines laying around! Have a great day.
Stephanie
So inspiring! I'm currently in the middle of doing this for scrapbook pages and card making ideas (because of your last post with the recipes it sparked the idea). Now this post has motivated me to finish that project!! (I'm right there with you on the cute font for the dividers... obsessive, but SO worth it!)
Wow...that is cute!! Great idea for all those inspirational things!
I really need to do this. Yours looks really good.
I am dying to make one of these! I started clipping out my favorites out of the magazines so I could avoid clutter. But that didn't last long. Now I have a hue stack that I need to go through!! I think I have a magazine addiction!!
I wish I had more time to be this organized. I always thought I was until I started blogging and see things like this.
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this : ). You are so organized! I am WAY impressed. I did buy the binder for recipes from magazines and I am EVER SO excited : ). Now I just have to put it together!
I love it! I definitely need to do this! My cluttery file folders just don't cut it anymore!
Awesome tips! I love the Decorating binder and the recipe one. What great gifts for Christmas....;)
You are very organized. I enjoy doing thing like that but usually don't take the time.
Oh my goodness! A great Mommy, decorator, blogger, preggers on top of all that... and now this? You are too much girl! I love this!!! Happy so close to the weekend I can smell it! xo, Les
You are such a girl after my own heart~I have a "home" notebook too~although yours is much, much cuter!
Melissa
I have something for you!
this is a great idea!!! I do it with recipes but never thought to do it with the rest of my house hold stuff.
thanks for the tip!
Awesome! Just one more thing to add to my to do list. Yippy! =)

Hi Carrie, Nice to read about you. I am new to blogging and couldn't get over how much we have in common. I live in Michigan and you in Denver...Darn. I have a little compulson to organize things too. I have note books and files for gardening ideas, favorite things etc etc. Yours were great! Will visit you more.
Barbara
I did the same thing and it is great when I have to show my husnad what my vision is inside my head. I just whip out my binder(s) because now I have VOL II. I always put paint chips in mine too so you can always go back and get touch up paint. I ♥ to be organized!
♥Jen
Oooh great details! I can't wait to get some binders ready too, so exciting! I am getting ready to fabric cover my little recipe binder, I can't wait :) Ooh I left you something on my blog!
This is a great idea... I may just try this for recipes. Thanks for the tip!
I'm so glad I know someone else who keeps great decorating ideas. I have a binder also....lots of them.
