Hey girls! I have an update (and I am sure you've been waiting with baited breath!) on the whole nursery rug decision. I read each and every piece of advice you gave me about this post, and there were good points for buying the knockoff rug and for waiting for something I liked more. In the end, as with most things, I listened to my mother. :) She thought I should wait.
I am glad I did! Here's my thought process: the curtains, which you may remember were originally orange and navy (but are now red and navy, see this post), may go back to orange and navy someday. So do I want to commit to a rug that has red in it? Maybe not. Because then I will always have to have red in the room. Get me?
So I opted for a simple navy rug, knowing that it will be much more flexible for decorating in the future. I have had luck with chenille rugs from Home Decorator's Collection in the past. Nina's room in our old house had gorgeous hardwood floors, and we had a pretty cream-colored chenille rug that went perfectly in there. So I took my little self over to check out these rugs, and $99 later I had a navy 5x8 chenille rug that actually instructs you to machine wash it when it gets dirty. Isn't that GREAT for a kid's room anyway?

The navy rug looks great & it's just waiting for little man to play with some blocks.
Mom's usually know best, don't they?
Have a great Wednesday.
I am so glad you decided to wait. This works perfect for now! It really brings it all together too!
Hope you have a great day!
perfect.

I am so impatient too. Way to go on waiting and doing it right!
The rug looks so soft and cozy. I think you made a good choice!
Good job waiting. I waited on getting the shower curtain I was trying to find and found one for $6.99 that works perfectly!
Looks great! I am going to check out the website. We are on the lookout for a rug for our living room. Anna Claire is going to need something to crawl on when she gets to moving!
Looks great, Carrie! Good shopping too! :)
I have a hard time finding just what I want when decorating and usually settle and then a few months later find just what I was looking for. UGG!
I'm glad you went with the third choice. Navy is a great base color and you can change the colors that go with it so easily. This will be helpful as Henry grows older and you want to change the room just a bit. Yes, mom's are usually right!!
That was a good choice, Carrie! It will serve well in your little man's room!

Besides, I love navy! ;)
The rug looks great and the price sounds perfect!
It's funny because I blew up the picture to look at it and didn't even notice the lack of crib skirt until you mentioned it. :)
Hope things are going great for you and the two kiddos!
It looks great -- what a beautiful room! Everything works when we listen to Mother -- right! ;)

Looks great! What would we do without our Moms?
Love it..
I love it! Your mom is wise.

Great rug choice, it will definitely be more flexible.
I love it!!! Great choice...especially if it is washable!
Great choice! I think in the long run you will appreciate being able to wash it. Not to mention that it can go with so much more decor if it's a solid color. One thing at a time sounds just fine to me! It will get there!!
Good choice. I am having a hard time committing to a rug right now too. They can be so expensive so I always feel like I should love it or go without. The nursery is looking so cute!
Love it love it! That's the way it ALWAYS works with me. If I get something quickly, I will like it and can make it work. But. .. . . I am always happier when I exercise patience and find what I really want!
LOVE the navy rug - so glad you chose that color, it does anchor the room so nicely!! I think you will love the washability of that rug too. :)
It looks great! Good choice.
I really like the navy rug. Good choice. He will have lots of fun playing cars and building blocks on that pretty rug! :)
Good choice...it's way more flexible!
I think the blue looks great! I agree with you, I don't like to make a color commitment and get stuck with a certain color for a long time. Moms do know best, don't they? ;) Hope you have a good Wednesday~
That looks great! It goes perfect with the curtains.
Just perfect! I love the look of his room.
Carrie~
That navy rug is just the perfect pop of color! What a wonderful job you've done!
I like the rug. I usually decorate in stages and the room comes together in pieces. I love the hunt to find the perfect wall art at teh perfect price.
that rug does make the room! cute blog ;)
Super cute! And bonus points for something you can throw in the wash. Isn't it great what happens when we listen to our moms?
Great choice and great price! :)

Love the navy rug!
I'm glad you waited...and even more glad that you're pleased with how it turned out. I think it looks great! But then, navy is my favorite color in the whole world. ;)
The navy rug is perfect and you are right....it really does anchor the room!!
Have a wonderful week!
Lisa
Way to go!!! You're so right, that it anchors the room. Great choice. : )
The navy rug looks GORGEOUS, There are also area rugs made out of a cotton and wool blend fabric that are more durable than cotton, but still less expensive than buying a wool rug for your dorm room.
It looks great - I've learned the hard way it's always best to think and wait a little before buying things for your home.
I think it's the perfect touch! Love the solid color!

Good decision! That rug looks great!
I think you made the PERFECT decision! Mom always knows best! ☺ The rug looks fantastic...and machine washable! It doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for the update. The nursery is looking sooooo cute!
Hope you're having a great week!
That's why I love you Carrie, you're so LOGICAL, and PATIENT, and all those other fab traits that I don't have! Great, great choice, I love it.

I saw the late spring snowstorm headed for Denver tonight/tomorrow! We are actually heading your way and are scheduled to fly into Denver on Saturday afternoon. I hope we can get in as planned!
P.S. We have an air date for our TLC show! Details on my blog!
