Happy December to you all!
I have found a new favorite project and wanted to share. I just made this adorable sign for my kids' bathroom. What do you think? (Nevermind that neither of my kids can read!)
I printed some letters off the computer, then just traced them (pushing very hard) onto the surface. The wood was soft enough that it made an indentation where I had traced, and I simply went back with my paintbrush and filled in the letters. After that, I sanded to rough up the letters a bit, and slapped on a coat of polyurethane.
If you or your husband don't feel like buying old wood off Craig's List, you can just as easily go to Lowe's and have them cut you a piece of new wood. That's what I did with this Grocery sign that I made for our kitchen! I brought it home and banged on it with a hammer and nails and whatever else I could find in the garage. (Added bonus: aggression release.)

So nice to hear from you again! Love your sign (don't worry about the kids not reading, they don't actually DO what the sign says anyway! LOL!). Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
Love it! I have been wanting to try a project like this for awhile. I never seem to have the time, but maybe this has inspired me =) Glad to hear from you!
I love it too! Both of them actually. So cute!
YAY! I love hearing from you ... love the signs ... great ideas! Merry Christmas!
So glad to see you posted again. I showed your sign to my daughters--they and I love it and they want to do the same in their children's baths. Love the grocery sign too. Hope to see your Holiday decor soon...
Love it! :)
So cute!
This sign makes me smile, it brought back a great memory...when my son was three, he pointed at the mouthwash and said to me, "I don't know why you buy this, my Dad just spits it out!" He would be mortified...now that he's 19!
what a great sign! My girls certainly need the reminder-especially the flush part. They seem to have an aversion to flushing (what's with that??!!)
Your signs are both so fun! I like the big, bold, simple font you used. Which font is it?
Really cute!

I think it is adorable, and I love how you hung it at their eye level! Very creative. Your Nina and Henry are adorable (the photo below this post)! It always felt odd to me to have warm days in Dec/January when we lived in Texas, and I was from there!!! This weather is much more to my natural liking. Although, we don't have any snow on the ground... unusual for us this time of year.
I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

p.s. thank you so much for leaving your "calling card" and for your very sweet note. It meant so much to me.
Saw your blog and wanted to stop by and say hello. I love your signs. Can you come to my house and make me some? By way of Pensacola, FL..... :-)
Both of those signs are awesome! You've got my wheels turning...
Wow, your signs are so cool! They look vintage and you told exactly how you did it! Great job. I should make a sign for my 8 yr. old who conveniently falls asleep and "forgets" to brush. Like BRUSH THOSE DAMN CHOPPERS. Just kidding. Thanks for the neat post.

Nice! Your doing great because of that postcard and i must say "you've got the right idea" and yep i agree to it. A simple reminder that kids will guide for the correct path of it.
This is so adorable! I will be making one for my kids room, and maybe one for the master, my husband needs reminding once in while ;) I'm your newest follower!
