Welcome to Henry's New Room!

Here's another example of how thankful a girl can be when her rental house has great paint colors already on the walls.

Henry's room faces the front of the house, and it's got these sloped ceilings that make it extra-cozy. It was already painted a warm brownish-gray, which looks great with his furniture.

The hardwood floors in here are so pretty. And his buffalo check curtains (from Pottery Barn Kids) look right at home!

I picked up that red lantern (hanging from a simple hook in the ceiling) at a Goodwill store back in Denver. We just ran the wire down the corner of the room, and it blends in with the paint color!

I love this little reading nook, where we read Henry's bedtime story every night.

It's a perfectly cozy room for a perfectly sweet little guy!

Very cute room. The paint color is nice. Just a thought, it would be easier to see if we didn't have to turn our heads to see the pictures. Maybe a few direct shots.

Adorable! My little boy has the same red star bedding (though its on his big kid bed), and I love how you put the buffalo checks with it! How did you find you're rental? We might possible be relocating to Monterey CA so curious how hard it was to find... thanks!

Hi Carrie..
Love how you are settling into your new home in California..
But I'm with the previous commentor..
what gives with all these tilted shots? makes viewing difficult..
very difficult!
Please go back to standard straight on shots so we can really appreciate your wonderful skill as a sober decorator!
warm sandy hugs..

Nice work! One suggestion: You now live in earthquake territory. Please don't hang anything over a bed/crib! It doesn't take much of a shake to knock stuff off the walls. (I used to live in the SF area - felt quite a few in the 6 years we were there - a couple of them were scary! Left one month before the big one hit in 1989.)
Just thinking about Henry's safety!

Carrie, so glad you are getting your bearings. Love Henrys room. I do have to agree with Carol h about the things over the bed, make sure you use earthquake mounts(hardware store) Also use these for dressers, it only takes a second but can really help with safety.

LOVE IT! All of it! Looks so cozy! And I love the tilted shots :) The only thing that I don't like is that you haven't show us that fabulous picture wall in your hallway. It's going to drive me crazy until we get a close us. :)

Personally, Carrie, I think turning our heads a bit to see the photos sometimes is a small price to pay for being able to see such great photos and ideas! I don't have a blog, so I don't know for sure, but I'll bet you spend a lot of time maintaining your blog and producing posts so that your readers can get great ideas for free! You just keep doing what you're doing and we will be thankful that you even bother to share your life and home with us...no matter which angle you take your pictures!

Looks great Carrie! And ooh, please show us that gallery wall in your hallway!! I LOVE gallery walls. I'm going to do one around our wall mounted tv. Hopefully it will turn out well!
And I like your tilted shots. I never understand why people give criticisms (sp?) in their comments - even if they think it's 'constructive'.

Henry's room is too precious! I love the cowboy theme and how it's not too extreme, you know? You really scored with an amazing rental house with an amazing view. I can't wait to see the rest of the rooms!

Do you have the option to buy that house when your lease is up? I can't imagine that you'll find another house with so much style and character (and with such an amazing view)! You've done a wonderful job. It just says home. I hope you are feeling more at peace there now. Best wishes to you and your sweet family!

His room looks fantastic! I love the window treatments and have been contemplating doing those in my little boy's room! Seeing these pictures definitely makes me want to get on the ball.
