Living Room Love

I've been away for a little unplanned break. Working to finish the house, get settled, and more importantly, take time to engage in life here with my family. We've been exploring and enjoying the city, and a few weeks' time has helped to make me feel a little less like a foreigner. The kids and I even have a few play dates set up! So we're surviving.

I thought I might show you my new family room and den. Come on in! This first photo is taken from the doorway, which is to the right of the front door as you enter the house. (Oh, and also? You better believe I am counting the days until fall temperatures arrive and that fireplace gets some action!)

Now here I am taking a photo while standing on the couch, to give you another angle. I could not be more excited about those built-in bookshelves. I swear I would live in a pup tent if someone would build me built-ins in there.

I am standing in the corner by the bookshelves for this next photo. The room beyond the living room is being used as my den. Love that.

Here's a bit closer up of the den. Don't you just love the ceilings in this house?

The den again. Ahhh...lovely sight. This is the first time this grown-up has had a desk of her own in the house. Before I just had stacks of papers on the edge of the kitchen counter. I feel rather spoiled.

It's a great house to cozy up in. My kiddos seem to agree with me!

You house is amazingly charming! I love how quickly you have moved in a made it a home. And yes, those ceilings are amazing!! How long will you get to rent it? I think it would be a hard house to leave!

Your new home is amazingly beautiful with such lovely character around every turn! I think if I was you, I might want to rent it forever! I can't believe how quickly you've settled in and made it cozy and homey. Henry has gotten so big! He's looking more little boy and less baby.

It looks wonderful, Carrie. You have such classic style.
My littlest had that same shirt as Henry is wearing! I was so sad when he grew out of it! :)
I'm glad to hear that you are feeling a bit more settled. It just takes time, doesn't it?
Blessings!!

Once again, you have created a cozy home. I would want to lay on my couch all day long and look at those ceilings--so beautiful! Can't get over that view you have!

Your stuff looks like it was made to fit in this beautiful house. I can't get over those ceilings - so pretty. Glad you're feeling better - just remember it takes about a year to really get adjusted...be patient.

These rooms are AMAZING! I tell you, cozy and welcoming is written all over it. I would be spending all my days in the chair in the den with book in hand!

Have a wonderful day!

Missed you but I'm glad you took the time out to get to know your knew home and city. I have lived in the same city all of my life and I can't imagine how tough it would be to move. I'm glad prayers are being answered. The kids look so comfy there.

What a charming house! You know what's killing me though? Watching you whip it together with your things and making it so cozy and homey and here I've lived in this house for 5 years and I'm not even close to that point! lol.
It really is adorable and what great archetecture as well! Your furniture looks like it was made for that house :)

LOVE it! I think my favorite detail (in this grouping of pics, that is) is the window in the den. AWESOME!

Keep up the good work, lady!

your furniture fits in so beautifully into this home. What an amazing find for a rental! Most of the rental properties I've seen are no where as nice as your home. Of course, it's your decor that makes it extra special!

Your home looks so beautiful and inviting. Well done. I have been deeply in love with your buffalo check curtains. Of course, as you know, they can't really be found. So what do you think about me "patch-working" them??? Is the white shade in there actually white or a bit of light cream?? Keep posting pictures, its the only way my own little house is ever going to get finished off.

Where are the window treatments from?? Love!!!

Sassy in the South,
I am so sorry I never responded to your question! I just saw your comment for the first time...months later! My window treatments are homemade, but I got the fabric from Calico Corners. It is a buffalo check, and the color name is Bisque. Hope this helps!
