Un-Edited Decorating

Sometimes blogging can give people an unrealistic sense of my life. The photos look pretty, everything is clean, and anything I don't want to show can just be cropped out of the photo.

Here's an example: remember this ceramic pot? I wrote about it here. I've always thought it was fabulous!

My almost-one-year-old baby Henry didn't think it was so fabulous.

Little troublemaker decided that Mama's pot looked better on the floor. And that the dirt looked better in his ear. (Don't worry, he wasn't hurt...just entertained by the big crash he made!)

So, I did a little redecorating.

No cropping. No editing. Just lots of dirt in my boy's ear and a nice, non-breakable pot.

Little stinker! (A really cute one!) You'll look back later at these photos fondly when he's big and tall. :) I love those curtains. I have been looking for a similar style.

Glad he's okay! Too bad about the pot...it was super cute and you should make another one to put somewhere safe. I want one for my kitchen. I have tons of copper and that's a great idea to actually put something in it!

Aww, I loved the sprout. I'm just wondering if that plant is poisonous if eaten?

He may be a troublemaker but he is still a cutie patootie!

Your little sprout is adorable! And glad you were able to replace it quickly with something really cute, and easily. You have fabulous taste, my friend! ;)

oh bummer! that pot was cute - but love the new version too. I just adore the dirt in the ear shot - that is a style statement!

Isn't it funny that when a child plops over a pot that we run for the camera to get a photoshoot out of it for our blogs, sugar?!?! I do the exact same thing and Love Bunny is always asking, "Why are you photographing those plates, pots, dinner, making dinner, messes around the house, etc." and I just tell him "all for th' blog." He just stares and turns away shaking his head. Life IS a blog, chickee, and we have to take advantage of every single moment in every single day. After we check the kids, of course! Hah. ;-) You did good, sugar!! I'm proud of ya....

xoxo,
Connie

the replacement pot looks just as nice as the previous one. I notice wine glasses peaking out from above...would you mind showing us the full display?

Wait? You're REAL? Oh, wow. I wasn't expecting this one, Carrie. :)

I have a question for you if you're EVER at a loss for what to post. I'm desperately searching for some organization tips. I have a small room at home, but enough stuff to fill an entire house. I don't want to get rid of it because I know that someday...when I have my own place...I'll want all of it. I want to become more organized and hide more clutter in the mean time. Any suggestions? I'll take anything you have!

I LOVED that pot and I remember when you made it. That Henry, I guess he had other ideas.

It's the little moments, right? He's too cute. I'm curious, what's above the trunk besides the wine glasses?!?! Looks like the perfect picture to share some decorating inspiration. :)

Awww Carrie, I'm so glad Henry is ok - and how I remember those days! I must admit, I miss them - a lot sometimes! =)

I just love seeing all of your pictures, cropped, uncropped, cleaned up, not cleaned up, edited, not edited! =)

I wish you could come decorate my house - it's in desperate need!

I remember Graham doing something like that to one of my big plants when he was about a year old. New pot looks great and now you have super cute pictures to show him when he's older of all the fun trouble he got into! :)

He's so cute. Hard to believe that he's gotten that big already!

What a cutie! Even covered in dirt, though that's what little boys do best is get covered in dirt when they play! :) Give a great big hug to your little one & enjoy him. So long to old "Sprout" and hello to your pretty copper pot!
Blessings,
Stacey

I'm sorry about your broken pot. After four children I've learned I can't have anything breakable that they can reach or climb too. Years back my oldest son broke a gorgeous glass hurricane I had on our dining table by throwing a ball. I was so sad about that and then I just learned to improvise and now any glass objects I have out only cost me a couple of dollars at most and so if they get broken I won't cry over it. Sorry for the eternal comment.

Looks like you're taking things in stride. I've been there, done that too. Dirt can be cleaned -- on the floor and in the ear.
