One Way To Conquer the Brown Thumb

What do you do when your mother-in-law gives you a beautiful terrarium for your birthday, but you have an uncanny ability to kill plants?

You go shopping at Michael's.

I snagged an adorable little bunch of fake plants this weekend (on clearance, no less!), and now I have the best of both worlds: a pretty terrarium that looks like I know how to grow things, but no watering required!

Just don't look at my weedy backyard garden. It would totally blow my cover.

So cute and lively looking :). And no worries on the weeds. Mine are the only thing currently thriving in my garden!

That's my kind of plants too :)

That turned out great -- think I need to do that with one I have too. Why is it that grass dies and the weeds go crazy growing? Have a good week!

Weeds have a life of their own, I have decided. That was a neat idea.

Great job!

I'm thinking about planting a herb garden. I had tomato plants for the beginning of summer. And did pretty well with that. So I want to try something new.

Those are the kind of plants I do best with too. I tend to forget to water. They seem to need that - go figure.
It looks beautiful.

Wow, those are really "real" looking! My favorite kind of plants. I only have one real plant in my house, and amazingly I have kept it alive for more than a year.

Love that look. I've been eyeing one of those terrariums for a while.

Great gift I would have to go with the fake as well. I can't grow anything either. *smiles*

Such a cute arrangement in the terrarium! :) And too funny that we are both using the same Heather Chadduck photo as our master bedroom inspiration!! She just has incredible style, I see why her designs are so popular! Your bedroom is much further along than mine. We just moved into our new house last week. I love the way yours looks, so pretty :)!

Artificial is great! I was just thinking about purchasing an indoor plant, but I might reconsider!

That's a good idea....my thumb isn't even brown...it's black. But I bet I could get fake plants to stick around for a while. ha!

I'm right there with you...no real plants for me. I love the fake ones. They look good and I don't have to remember to take care of them. Good job!

try.

I am starting a NEW Mr. Linky party. It will begin on Aug 10th so everyone will have a week and a half to think about their first post. I have a poll up for votes on which button should be the new button. The "party" is called The Knock Off Knock Out-where THRIFTY meets creative sensation. Help me out by voting and its the last week for the July GIVE-A-Way.

Love that little "house" thingy - can you spill where you got it?

p.s. my word verification is "goangus" - sounds like someone wants steak, eh? Excuse my weird sense of humor.

Good thinking! I have the same issues with live plants......so busy at the greenhouse that I don't keep my house plants alive :)
