The Best Bedroom Blue!

Good morning!  I know, it's been awhile, I am sorry!  We are leaving on our first vacation as a foursome next week, and I've been busy getting our life together.  But I had to take a break from my organizing and packing to come to Melissa's "My Favorite Paint Color" party!

I am always drawn to warm colors.  So it's surprising that one of my favorite colors in my house is this pretty robin's egg blue in my bedroom.

It looks so pretty with the different wood tones in the room, and the silver frames and other little goodies look great against it.

I've added some warm-colored fabric, brown leather, and a cozy cream blanket so that the "cool" factor doesn't come through too strongly.  And I bought some amazing brown and cream toile fabric to make window "mistreatments" (a la Nester).  Yeah, we'll see how long it actually takes me to get those done!

This color is actually my own creation, mostly because I bought a color that looked WAY too dark on the walls, so I just kept adding white paint until I liked it!  But because Melissa is one of my favorite bloggers, I wanted to be able to give you chickies a name for this color, in case you want to get it for yourself!  So I headed off to Lowe's and got this paint sample.  It matches my color exactly.

To copy this lovely blue, go out and get Valspar (Lowe's house brand) in "Rising Tide."  Hope you love it as much as I do!

And now, head over to 320 Sycamore to see lots of other favorite paint colors!

I have a question about a previous post... I made my little one several onesies using the iron-on transfers that you showed on your blog and I've noticed that they crack and peel off. Have you had the same problem? I washed the onesies before and after like the instructions said. I'm really disappointed.

That is very pretty color. I love the blue colors, but wouldn't want it to be too blue...this color would be perfect. I am thinking for maybe a workspace.

When you say you kept adding white, do you mean you mixed white paint with the blue paint? Our family room is way too blue and I want to lighten it. Do you think I should just completely repaint or try a glaze? Thanks!

That's one of my favorite colors, too. I picked our wedding china secretly hoping that one day I'd have a blue dining room in that shade - ha! I thought it's be pretty to have china with a blue/gold rim set on a big, dark wood table with blue walls...love the color! I also want to paint my bathroom that color some day.

I agree, great color! When we moved in to our rental nearly a year ago the ownders left the master bedroom painted that exact same blue and I was surprised just how much I liked it. I love combining it with cremes and mochas to add warmth, like you said. Now, for the spring/summer we have a light grey/white duvet with white and yellow accent pillows. I love the color combo of light blue/yellow/light green too.

Your bedroom looks great--so peaceful and relaxing!

I just changed our bedroom to blue, but I went with a much darker shade. I love it so much, but I admit that I was a little nervous throughout the whole process because I'd never gone with such a bold color before. I heaved a big sigh of relief when it was painted...and I was thrilled...and my husband was, too. Whew! :)

Have a great time on your trip!

I took the advice of this article about Rising Tide and headed straight over to Lowe's. I cannot TELL YOU HOW WONDERFUL my daughter's bedroom turned out. You are right, this is a perfect blue....it's not baby boy nursery blue, but a mature blue that, as you say, works well with creams and wood tones. Lovely, lovely! Thank you for recommending.
