Let's Take a Tour!

Happy Friday everyone!  Earlier in the week, I shared some photos from my daughter Nina's bedroom, specifically, her "reading corner."  It occurred to me that her room might not look the same for much longer, since we have begun to consider how to turn it into a "big girl's room" before her new little brother or sister arrives.

So, what better chance to show you some of my favorite parts of my baby's room?  Come on in!  Below, you can see one of my favorite things, the little "N" that I made for her door.  Isn't it sweet?

In this photo you can see her changing table and her precious newborn photos that a friend took for us.  You can also see the bookshelf that my husband built.  It goes completely around the perimeter of her room and I just love how it looks.  Plus, it gives us so much extra space for books and other things.

It may be hard to tell in the photos, but the bookshelf is about as tall as I am (5'2") so it will take awhile before Nina gets big enough to reach it herself!  Her walls are a pale pink color.

This little piece of artwork was a gift to my husband last Christmas.  It was so simple to do: I just bought a canvas at Hobby Lobby, painted it a pale green, and then enlisted the help of my sister to hold Nina still enough to capture her hand prints in paint!

OK, now you can see that I go a little crazy with the personalization.  I have Nina's name all over her room!  These letters were a simple purchase at Michaels, and I probably painted them three or four times until I came up with this simple polka dot design.

This little wooden frame was inexpensive (Michaels, too, I think) and I just did the same polka dot design as I did on the letters.  I actually bought a stippling sponge to create the dots.  (I have no idea what stippling is, but the sponge was a perfect circle so it worked for me!)

This might be my very favorite thing in Nina's room.  My best friend (also Nina's godmother) painted this simple wooden stool for her.  She is so artistic; I take no credit for the adorable design.  Isn't it precious?  Man, do I wish I could paint!

Hope you enjoyed the tour!  Have a great weekend!

  4. I think I already wrote in another comment I love the shelf that goes around the room. I love all the personalized decor. I would personalize everything of my kids, too. I love the stool and the pink and green picture with her name!

It is such a sweet room! To make it a big girl..I would put a white bead board bed or maybe white iron bed and a cute comforter to match.

Thanks for your email...I love the Olde Thyme Pottery!

The shelf around the room is a great idea, especially for all the toys and books little ones seem to have so much of. You've done such a nice job on all the "special" touches in her room.

Thanks for the tour! Will you be giving a tour of the rest of your home? This inquiring mind (nosy) would love to see it:)

I appreciated your comment that you left yesterday on my post. Thank you!

    Have a great day!

  14. How stinkin' cute. I love all the personalization! It will really benefit her in the long run too. I teach pre-k and its a task helping kids to even recognize their own names. She will surely be a pro before she even enters into pre-k.

    Way Cute!
