Christmas Advent Calendar

Merry Christmas! I can officially say that now, even though I've been guilty of playing Christmas music in my house for a few weeks now. :)

Over the weekend, like many of you I am sure, we unpacked our Christmas decorations. If you've been around here for awhile, you will remember my Christmas advent calendar from last year:

I made it when I was 8 months pregnant last year, and I still love it! Each box opens up and allows me to hide a little treat for my kids for each day leading up to Christmas. Nina can hardly wait to dive in tomorrow. Henry doesn't care so much, but he will next year, I am sure!

I have a detailed tutorial from last year on how I made this, so if you feel like getting all messy and taking on another project this Christmas season, click here for instructions! Happy Mod Podging!

  5. I've seen a lot of cute advent calendars the last few weeks, but in my estimation this is the BEST. Love the fact that you can easily hide something in the box. Really cute!

  13. I loved it then and still think it is charming! I'd like an advent calendar for each kid - so that the can all open something every day, and then rotate.

  14. Victoria--
The numbers are from Michael's, if I remember right. They are just stickers that I put on before I used the Mod Podge. Good luck finding them!

  15. Love this just as much as I did last year! We put up our tree this weekend, but I still need to finish putting out our other decorations so I put the boxes back away!

  20. Sarah-
The surprise for today was Santa socks I got for $1 at Target. Love it! I will admit that some leftover Halloween candy made it into the boxes too, but since it's still sitting around a month after Halloween, I doubt anyone is missing it! :)

Have you gotten your cute little hat for Anna Claire yet?

  24. I love this. So fresh and fun. My kids have an advent calendar but my mom bought it for them and she fills it up with little goodies. Special because it is from granny but yours is simply darling!

  31. Just finished making mine!! Love it so much. Thank you a ton for the great idea. I have been trying to find an advent calendar I liked for a long time.

I found a pre-made Magnetic "memory" board at Hobby Lobby so it took some work out if it. It had writing on the magnetic board so I just spray painted it black. My frame is also black but I thought it would be fun to use other times of the year. It would be a really cute way to distribute favors at a party as well. Thanks again!!
