Love the Bins, Not the Price

Hello, adorable green metal bins from Pottery Barn Kids. You are looking mighty cute today. However, I would like to send my kids to college, so I will not be bringing you home. Love you though!

Instead, I will visit my local Goodwill and find some rusty old bins for $3 a piece.

I will then apply some red spray paint. I will stain the wooden handles a dark walnut color. And I will add some chalkboard paint in a little square in the center of each bin.

I will end up with something equally cute! And my kids still get to go to college.

P.S. Giveaway winners will be announced later today. Don't miss it!

  15. That is super cute! I love PBs catalogs, but cannot afford to spend the kind of $$ they want for it. You did a great job of "making do" ;-)

  17. Great job; they turned out great!! I was fortunate to find PB Kids buckets marked down to $6 a few years back. I bought all of them right then and there!

  18. Your buckets are MUCH better than the ones at Pottery Barn. You have convinced me that I need to check out our Goodwill store for some great finds.

  19. Love the red! You (and the other decorating blogs I read) have really helped me start to see things for what they could be and not for what they currently are. Thanks for that! :-)

I was tempted by those PBK pails awhile back but then decided that having my children pull them in and out on a shelf would likely scratch the paint so I got some fabric bins from Target instead. Just an FYI in case you put them on a shelf and your kids pull them off the shelf, put them back on, etc etc. Paint might be scratched!

  21. Isn't it crazy that they get to charge so much simply because their name starts with Pottery and ends with Barn? It's insanity. Very cutey, cute job ya done!
