What do you do when your mother-in-law gives you a beautiful terrarium for your birthday, but you have an uncanny ability to kill plants?
You go shopping at Michael's.

I snagged an adorable little bunch of fake plants this weekend (on clearance, no less!), and now I have the best of both worlds: a pretty terrarium that looks like I know how to grow things, but no watering required!

Just don't look at my weedy backyard garden. It would totally blow my cover.
So cute and lively looking :). And no worries on the weeds. Mine are the only thing currently thriving in my garden!
ReplyDeleteCute!!
ReplyDeleteThat's my kind of plants too :)
ReplyDeleteThat turned out great -- think I need to do that with one I have too. Why is it that grass dies and the weeds go crazy growing? Have a good week!
ReplyDeletejanet
Weeds have a life of their own, I have decided. That was a neat idea.

Love Michaels - you have an awesome ability to make everything you touch beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey look real! That is a beautitul present!
ReplyDeleteLove the terrarium and GREAT finds for the plants to put in there...they look real!
ReplyDeletethis terrarium is awesome- and the plants look great!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about planting a herb garden. I had tomato plants for the beginning of summer. And did pretty well with that. So I want to try something new.
Those are the kind of plants I do best with too. I tend to forget to water. They seem to need that - go figure.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful.
Wow, those are really "real" looking! My favorite kind of plants. I only have one real plant in my house, and amazingly I have kept it alive for more than a year.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny to me!!! I am still laughing! Very clever way of having gorgeous plants!!
ReplyDeleteLove that look. I've been eyeing one of those terrariums for a while.
ReplyDeleteGreat gift I would have to go with the fake as well. I can't grow anything either. *smiles*
ReplyDeleteThey look real to me, I would have never known.
ReplyDeleteAlly
Very nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea and they look so real too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute arrangement in the terrarium! :) And too funny that we are both using the same Heather Chadduck photo as our master bedroom inspiration!! She just has incredible style, I see why her designs are so popular! Your bedroom is much further along than mine. We just moved into our new house last week. I love the way yours looks, so pretty :)!

Stacey

ReplyDeleteI too, am a plant killer-and am the very proud owner of those exact same little fakes-and I love them!!!
I think you did a great job with them!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your terrarium. I have one and have no problem growing ivy in mine and I don't have the greenest thumb...lol
ReplyDeleteArtificial is great! I was just thinking about purchasing an indoor plant, but I might reconsider!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea....my thumb isn't even brown...it's black. But I bet I could get fake plants to stick around for a while. ha!
ReplyDeleteLove it! That would be my way of making it look real. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteGood idea! The succulent looks real!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Do you know where she bought it...I would love to find one too~
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you...no real plants for me. I love the fake ones. They look good and I don't have to remember to take care of them. Good job!

ReplyDeleteI am starting a NEW Mr. Linky party. It will begin on Aug 10th so everyone will have a week and a half to think about their first post. I have a poll up for votes on which button should be the new button. The "party" is called The Knock Off Knock Out-where THRIFTY meets creative sensation. Help me out by voting and its the last week for the July GIVE-A-Way.

ReplyDeleteGood thinking! I have the same issues with live plants......so busy at the greenhouse that I don't keep my house plants alive :)
